Chromatic Brass, founded by Black women, is an organization for brass musicians that celebrates, educates, and performs to increase the visibility of racially and ethnically underrepresented people throughout the music industry.

We envision a musical landscape led by community and empathy in a world free of systemic hierarchy. One where all brass musicians have boundless opportunities for personal and professional growth.

What we do

Celebration

We celebrate our community as a source of strength, belonging, and collective power. By cultivating meaningful connection among our musicians, we create spaces for affirmation and growth that equip artists to lead and advocate within their own communities.

Education

Chromatic Brass connects established music professionals with emerging artists by offering lectures, coachings, and masterclasses to support their development and career growth.

Performance

Chromatic Brass produces live and virtual performances that reflect the breadth of our artists and the cultural traditions they carry. We prioritize works by underrepresented composers across classical and contemporary traditions, expanding the repertoire while honoring lineage, innovation, and lived experience.
