Euphonium

Leila Rasas is a Los Angeles based euphonium/trombone performer and educator. Leila earned her Master of Music degree in Performance from the University of Oregon, where she studied with Michael Grose, completed her undergraduate studies in Instrumental Performance at Samford University under the tutelage of Dr. Demondrae Thurman, and attended Pasadena City College where she studied with Dr. Beth Mitchell. 

During her time at UO Leila was elected as a student representative to the Dean’s Committee for Equity and Inclusion where she collaborated with faculty, administration, and students to advance issues of equity both in the classroom and within the School of Music and Dance community. As an educator Rasas has worked with the EduCare Foundation assisting LAUSD high schools with their music and marching programs. She has taught masterclasses at Pasadena City College and high schools in Oregon, Alabama, and California. As a performer she has performed in Alabama, California, Iowa, Oregon, and the Dominican Republic.

 In 2019 Leila was a semi-finalist at the International Tuba Euphonium Conference’s chamber competition with her euphonium quartet, and in 2021 Leila was selected as a semi-finalist for the Stars and Shipes Mock-Band Competition.
